This unit covers the essential skills and knowledge required to responsibly sell or serve alcohol in any environment where alcohol is provided, including hospitality venues, packaged liquor outlets, wineries, breweries, and distilleries. It applies to all staff involved in selling, serving, or promoting alcohol—such as food and beverage attendants, liquor store staff, cellar door employees, sales representatives, and security personnel.

The unit includes the legal and compliance requirements set by state and territory liquor licensing laws. Certification requirements vary across jurisdictions, and in some cases, all staff (including licensees and security officers) must hold this qualification.
